THE UNFOLDING EXPERIENCE
Unfolding Men groups offer a relaxed and supportive setting.
Meetings can focus on any topic that those in attendance feel to explore.
Topics such as anxiety, depression, relationships, rejection, raising children, sexual tension, tenderness, intimacy, alcohol, drugs, workplace bullying, retirement and providing for the family are a small sample of where these discussions may lead;
no topic is off the table.
These meetings use ‘group work’ principles to explore the topics in a way that builds a level of shared understanding that is not normally reached in every day discussions.
All participants are asked to observe the following guidelines so that each individual understands his responsibility to the group.
For us all to open up and express freely we must feel safe knowing that we have all made mistakes.
NO PROBLEM SOLVING
As men we can easily slip into the pattern of trying to “fix” things. Most of our issues don’t need fixing they need an understanding of why they are happening.
Blaming others serves nobody, it keeps us stuck and stops us from taking responsibility and getting on with our lives.
KEEP IT LIGHT
Getting bogged down in detail can stop us from expressing what we are feeling or what may be needed.
ENCOURAGE ALL TO HAVE THEIR SAY
Everyone has something equally to offer and should never be dismissed for being insignificant. We must also allow space for others to be able to contribute.
